Five minutes closer to a better day

Reset breath

“Sit or stand comfortably. Close your eyes if you can. Inhale deeply through your nose, letting your chest and belly expand. Hold it for a couple of seconds. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this cycle a few times.”

Today the brain is a web browser with too many tabs open, one us buffering and clogs up the system, so the mouse is lagging on the other tabs. The processor’s overheating, the fans are blowing. Best to take a breather. Reset breath is supposed to be quite like hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the brain. Supposed to be a mental reset.

Did that standing. My dog has taken over my laid-back armchair, so just accepted second-tier status and stood. Reset breath was pretty much like offering my brain a cold beer. Got the edge off. No more fight or flight mode. It’s good. Portable. You just need lungs.

Take a five. Take a breather.

Life is erratic. Before you flip out, best to take a breather. Take a breath break.

Here is a Sesame Street’s breathing for beginners:

Breathe in deeply like you’re trying to steal all the oxygen in the room. Use your belly to take a deeper breath. Let the air fill your lungs.

Hold your breath briefly and gently for a few seconds  so that your body gets the oxygen it needs.

Slowly release air from your lungs. Savor the pause between breaths.

5-minute escape. 5-minute meditation. Intentional pause. Mindful pause
