Gratitude is a skill
Decided to give gratitude a shot.
Day one of gratitude experiment.
“Write down three things you’re grateful for right now. Don’t overthink it. Just write.”
1. Hot bath.
Three sentences starting with “grateful for…“ Supposed to take five minutes.
“Best to put on paper. Otherwise it doesn’t exist.”
How about a note on my phone? Who uses paper anymore? Handwriting has become a secret code only I can decipher. Took an old grocery receipt to jot things down. The back of the receipt worked fine. Minimalism.
Grateful for:
2. Finding a good parking spot.
“Write daily. It’s a daily practice. It’s called “gratitude practice” for a reason. It’s a practice. You’re training your mind, so write every day. Involves training. Involves regularity. Turns gratitude into a mindset. Writing down what you are thankful for rewires your brain.”
The deal is, you drum the message in, and after two or three weeks, gratitude sneaks up on you. Science says it’s good for you. Makes you a nice person. You get to see what you’ve got.
“Pick a time.”
Or don’t.
3. Grateful for Emil, always happy to see me.
Write about three small things that brought you joy today. Smallest moments count.
